Athletics and Recreation
Raymond A. DuFour Athletic Center is one of CUA's most popular facilities. The center provides opportunities for everyone, regardless of fitness level or athletic ability, to improve their overall health and well being. The center features a 25-meter pool, basketball and volleyball courts, a weight-training room, a dance studio, saunas, and an indoor running area. The outside portion of the center features Cardinal Stadium; a six-lane, 400-meter track; six tennis courts; and playing fields for baseball, field hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, and softball.
CUA competes in the NCAA Division III, Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference, and the Landmark Conference. The football team is a member of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The university fields men's teams in cross country, basketball, indoor track, baseball, outdoor track, tennis, soccer, swimming, lacrosse and football. Women's teams include basketball, field hockey, volleyball, tennis, outdoor track, softball, soccer, swimming, lacrosse, cross country and indoor track.
CUA conducts intramural programs in several sports that are available to all students. The program consists of five seasonal team activities for men and women: touch football, soccer, basketball, softball and volleyball; softball and volleyball teams can also play in coed leagues. Individual sport activities such as tennis, table tennis, and racquetball are also offered. All graduate students are welcome to participate in intramural programs.
CUA sponsors the following club sports: ballroom dance, cheerleading, CUltimate frisbee, ice hockey, men's rugby, women's rugby, men's and women's rowing, SAAC, and CUA Dance Team.
The 7000 square foot fitness Center offers state of the art Precor Cardiovascular Equipment, a complete circuit of Nautilus weight machines, and a free weight area. The fitness center's mission is to provide students, who are studying at CUA, the opportunity to maintain and develop healthy lifestyles. The center provides abdominal workouts, core training and conditioning as well as individual training programs for students. A number of classes and personal training services are also available.
